While I’m very happy with the beta syncing ability with android I now have, I don’t want sharing playlists to get lost, since it was the other half of this request. Keep up the good work.
So am I hearing correctly that playlist syncing is finally coming soon? Will there be a new iOS app for this?

It’s worked on iOS for about a year. That’s what most of us (Android) users are complaining about. The lack of parity.
However, in the beta, it does work. The only thing kind of a bummer, is you can not have separate settings for preferring local MUSIC vs. preferring local (all) MEDIA as a selection. For instance, if I check the “prefer local media” option, music plays from sync’d data which is ideal, but then if you have a sync’d movie for example and then you try to Chromecast that movie, it’s coming from the device instead of from the server, making the movie unwatchable due to stuttering and whatnot, including battery life issues.
Definitely need to have an option for “Prefer Sync’d MUSIC” and a “Prefer Sync’d VIDEOS” as separate options.
^^ You can turn off that setting and then manually select the local device when you want to use the synced copy.

Yeah…I kinda have to do that when on a plane and stuff cause it tries to pick it up even if I select the Device, instead of the server. Better than sideloading or dealing with iDiot Tunes! Ha ha.
Still, a setting would be radness, but I am only one user.
Beyond just the syncing, I’d like to be able to set up server-side playlists that all clients can see and use.
I also would like to see the shared playlist.

What time does it normally take to go from beta to release? Maybe it is not so easy to say because it depends on the amount of bugs that are found. But what does it normally take on average? Or is there a prediction on this specific beta?

There’s definitely no sort of normal/set timetable. The new 5.0.x Android betas have some huge changes under the hood that can affect lots of different areas of the app. Both our dedicated QA team and our own employees have already been extensively testing stuff, but there’s simply no substitute for broader, real-world testing (across lots of different devices, network setups, etc.) in this sort of thing.
I quite frankly don’t know myself how long the beta period for it will last before 5.0.x goes public. My guess here is that it’s probably going to need multiple weeks total before it’s deemed ready to go out to the broader audience. Obviously, having people participate in the beta and actually provide useful, concrete feedback and reports (e.g. with logs and details) in the beta forum is the best way to help ensure issues get identified and fixed as quickly as possible.
I just did a request to join the beta-testing.
Never did it before, so let’s see what happens. 
Looking forward to test out the new sync functionalities!

If you’re in the beta, then you have access to the forums under the Beta Builds group on the main forums page. You can post details there. (As always, attaching both app and server log files that cover the issue when posting details is very beneficial.)

+1 Really missing this feature. I would use it such a lot. It would save me data & remove connectivity issues, allow better quality listening.
I wish it was called “sync, share and export/backup playlists” but I take any improvement really.

Joined the beta today. Immediately got an update in my playstore. Updated plex and now syncing my playlist to my phone. Woohoo! Very happy.
Untill now, no bugs or crashes. (LG Nexus 5 with Android 6.0.1)
