Any chance we can get an update on if this feature has progressed at all? Elan or Tobias?
As a recent new user to Plex (used XBMC since the Xbox days) I would love to see a trailer option or support. Currently I stack my movies files so the trailer plays first, but I'd love a better option.
Otherwise haven't missed XBMC yet.

omg.. whats the problem with this?! a simple button that says "Trailer" and an agent who download a trailer from apple or yahoo on a deep scan... and that takes over a year?? serious??

the PlexTeam can't implement this for over a year. but then u come around an making it real for roku at one go... :(
i dont have a roku, so i can't test it. but wouldn't it be better to use AppleTrailers or YahooTrailers ? To avoid fanmade-trailers and stuff like this?

This was the first attempt to even see if it was possible. The Roku can only play certain formats directly, one which is an mp4 that youtube can supply. I am up for adding in other trailer options, but I am hoping not have to support this for too long ;) If anyone has some pointers or has worked with other trailer API's, please PM me.
I did just remember ( haven't had my morning coffee yet). I took a look at the AppleTrailers but noticed they really do not have a huge collection, especially for older movies (maybe I am wrong). With my quick testing, on youtube the first or second video listed is usually the main trailer, the rest are just "bonus". If the quality is not great or not an official trailers, well it also didn't even exist on apple trailers (again my quick tests). It is possible in the future to maybe prefer Apple then Yahoo then Youtube. So again, if anyone has some pointers on good trailer API's, let me know and I will look into it.
thats what i mean. now u have to handle all that stuff at one. not just the implementation of a PMS-trailer-feature into roku. but also the agent-related stuff. usually the plex team should provide the trailer-feature , then the agent-developers can write agents (also localized trailer-agents) for it and then you should have an easy job to implement it into roku... :( this way we can go our usual way and sort the agents how we need them.... i still don't get it... :(
but still, i think this is a huge step forward for roku users. awesome work!

Yep I agree like everyone else, this should be added to PMS. My update for the Roku channel in no way fixes this issue, it just give the option to people using a Roku. If I had access to alter this elsewhere so it would be more useful for others, I would for sure. Let's hope this inspires some of the devs, I know WHEN they make this happen it will be much better than anything I have done :) of course I have limited things I can modify. I can appreciate how much hard work goes into plex after creating plexWatch and modifying the Roku channel, so I appreciate all of their hard work!

Already have all the trailers downloaded in the same folder...
+1 for me too - very handy for the rest of the family to see/check trailers before they choose what to watch. I know what’s in the library as I added it, but they don’t.
