I can't believe the amount of people who want to add adverts to the start of their film viewing, I intentionally turn up to the cinema late to try and avoid them! haha. Different strokes :)
It depends how you see it (and use it).
If you know what you're going to watch (like when you go to the movies), yes. But if you navigating in the movies and wonder what to watch, when adding movies often (CP, etc..) it's priceless for me (and my GF) to get a preview of the movies instead of just the plot... ;)
I love movie trailers in general... i can spend hours just watching them, whether its classic trailers for movies i've seen a million times, or new trailers for upcoming films. Either way, they are an important part of my movie watching experience. I think it would be outstanding if there was a way to link trailers our libraries using metadata or to manually add them.
When viewing the movie Details, if a trailer is available there would be a View Trailer option.
For people who like watching the trailer before they watch the movie, and since not everyone does, add an check box option to "Play trailers before movie, if trailer is available."
Adding a trailer file manually could require a nested trailer folder in the movies' folder, or an identically names file with a -trailer or -TF suffix (not extension), to distinguish it from the movie file. I dont know..
In any case, with or without this feature, Plex is one hell of a product and i'm glad i'm finally a PP Member! Thanks for your outstanding efforts!
On the topic of loving to just watch movie trailers. About 18 years ago, I had a friend that was a manager of a movie theater. We both loved watching trailers so much that one time we waited until the theater was closed and then proceeded to splice together 2 hours worth of trailers together and then just sat and watched all of them at once. Had a great time.

And Apple Trailers definitely doesn't have all of the 3000 trailers that I have on my computer. Especially some of the older ones.
I know, and I'm with you about local/online trailer support (for existing movies), I was just saying that the Apple Trailers channel does the trick to watch trailers of movies you don't have in library.
Me and my girlfriend always have a hard time picking from the 200+ unwatched movies, mainly because some of them we don't quite recall some of the plot, or because I added the movie when I was at work and now have to tell her what it's about.
A trailer button would be SO AWESOME!

Is there any evidence that the Plex team is entertaining this idea? This is the one thing I think is missing that would round out the Plex experience, and obviously there are many others out there that think the same thing.
I had a great discussion about it with a few other Plexians yesterday about some cool twists on the feature we could provide. I think it's definitely fair to say it's climbed a few notches on the ladder

This is the evidence that I found just within this thread, but it doesn't really show that any of it still holds to be true as these are all quite old posts from the devs. And this post goes back 1.5 years only because that's how old this forum is. But there was an older post that goes back 3 1/2 years, as you can see by how old Elan's response is in the screenshots.
Yeah Definitely want this option. I prefer it to scrape from youtube or an online source but i do understand that some ppl have downloaded trailers but if feel if the online support could be added it wouldn't be much more to add local support too. I run plex on all my mobile devices. its smooth and perfect for them just missing this and a couple of features to make it better than my current setup for my home systems.
I got exited when I noticed the following listed in the lastest PlexPass client update "A nice little addition that has been requested a lot. Let's see if you guys can find it" rushed around the client thinking it might have been trailer support but no such luck from what I can tell so far... (fingers are still crossed though)...
