Import playlists

Hi everybody

I decided to switch to PLEX when it comes to media - I love it. I have one crucial thing which I did not figure out so far:

I have now > 10k songs on PLEX of which almost 5k are rated. As I figured, PLEX does not read/import all meta information (although properly set-up agents). Never mind. I can create playlists according to the ratings in my old player, import it in PLEX and mass-rate the songs in the respective playlist. This is how I would do it…

Yet, I did not figure out yet how to import a playlist in PLEX. My search on the internet revealed nothing that would cover my problem. Any ideas?

The only playlist import capability in Plex is importing from iTunes when creating a library.

Thanks for the quick reply. Any chance that there will exist such an option (or read all metadata on the files) any time soon? It was a lot of work rating +5k songs…

There’s always a chance, but Plex doesn’t discuss their roadmap, so we may not know until it happens. There is a feature request for importing playlists via .m3u files. You may want to add your vote by clicking ‘Like’ on the first post in that thread.

Thanks for the info! Yet, :frowning: sad that in my opinion such a basic feature is missing.

Playlists are a relatively new feature, only added last year. I think we can expect improvements.
