I have a substantial number (5,220) of movies in Plex. I have automated much of the importing of data via the use of MP4 Tags. It works great for me, and I am generally happy with the results. There are two fields that I have not been able to automate, although I have tried in the past several times.
The first is “rating.” I have my movie agent set to retrieve that info from IMDb, but it never seems to work correctly. Instead it appears to import the data from TMDb. I would like to be able to override the rating field via an MP4 tag. I have all the correct IMDb data and can easily import it into MP4 tags. However, when I put the data into an MP4 Tag (%rating%) nothing happens. I have the tried all the iterations of ratings (%ratingwmp%; %ratingmm%; %ratingwinamp%) to no avail. Can you give some advice/help on the issue I am having?
The second is “content rating.” A very similar issue - the results from the agent are inconsistent, particularly with TV Movies. Again, I would like to be able to use my own data via MP4 tag. According to several sources if have read, the data should go in a field %ITUNEXTC%. I also read somewhere that it is important to the have %itunesmediatype% set to movie,which I have done. However, I have also been unsuccessful with getting this to work. Again, no problem getting this into MP4 tags, just never successfully imports into Plex, Can you give some advice/help on the issue as well?
