Music file rating - should it work?

Hello,
I’m pounding my head trying to figure out what I may be doing wrong and am hoping for guidance.

I had set tags on alot of my personal files - Photo, music, movies - using a different program. When i moved to Plex and pointed my libraries to those same files, it seemed like it picked everything up without issue.

However, now what I am seeing is that when using any player, I do not see my ratings I made on my audio files. On the server I setup the library:
Music
Scanner = Plex Music
Agent = Plex Music
Prefer Local Metadata = Checked
Genres = Embedded Tags
Album Art = Local Files Only

I have removed the library, and built it again.
I rebooted the server.
I allowed full rights for the plex server user id that is mapped to my Synology drive share

Ill admit it is confusing on the forums as it appears this should work. But some posts show Plex will not pull in metadata Rating tags. Some posts show if you import from an iTunes library it works.

What I would like is:
For my tags that exits in the files to be seen by plex server and show me on my clients.
For Plex to update any tags as I make them. If i have a new song, or a song that has no rating Ill tag it in Plex and it will write that to that audio file and it is saved.

Should this work?

No, unfortnately, Plex doesn’t read ratings from your files.

It has a strict policy of not changing your media files. So if you subsequently decide to change a rating of a track, it won’t write back the new rating into the file as well.
