Impossible to find a match

Hi,

since few weeks, impossible to find matches for all my new files. I don’t understand why.

Before, everything was ok but one day, I add new movies and he didn’t find. Even if I do it manually.

I’m sorry I can’t upload logs because I’m a new user.

Hi @feboun!
before jumping to the logs… can you share some details on how you’ve structured/named those new files of yours?

e.g.:

  • are they all in the main movies folder or organized in subfolders?
  • are those videos in mp4/m4v format with local media assets enabled / having a high priority? (this could override the file name given for searched – however it won’t explain why the search doesn’t work manually).

Hi.

I never had this issue with Plex until few weeks. All my others movies are matched but for 3 last movies added during theses few weeks, no matches. I change nothing on the setting.

Regards

Response appreciated… however you evaded answering my actual question.
Can you give an example of how those movies are named? “It used to work” is no guarantee for it to keep working if there’s e.g. some naming issues

I tried to rename files with only the name of the movie like « Tomb Raider » for example and it change nothing.

I don’t think it’s a name issue because I tried different names and just keeping the movie’s name but it doesn’t find the match.

let’s give it a try.

Option 1: using subfolders
Movies / <- the folder linked to your library
.. Tomb Raider (2018) /
.. .. Tomb Raider (2018).mkv <- name + year; same as in the movie folder!
.. .. poster.jpg <- any local extras…

Option 2: no subfolders
Movies / <- the folder linked to your library
.. Tomb Raider (2018).mkv <- name + year
.. Tomb Raider (2018)-poster.jpg <- any local extras

After updating the file names, manually perform Scan Library Files for that library.

2nd scenario: if the movie is in mp4/m4v format with local media assets enabled, this could override the naming given by the file (e.g. if the file is named Tomb Raider (2018).mp4 and the embedded title is Tomb Raider or a funny name picked up by whoever created the file such as TR_DISC1)

hi.

Thanks for your help. I tried option 1 and 2 for a new movie I added this morning. Same issue. But tv show, I haven’t this issue. It’s only for movies.

hmm… in that case we’re at a point where the logs will become handy.
can you retry uploading them here – if it’s still not working… any chance to upload them elsewhere and share the link in this thread (as a workaround)?

Plex Media Server Logs_2018-08-11_14-28-43.zip (3.0 MB)

There is the log for you

ok… scanning appears to work – however I strongly recommend you fix those names. I’m actually surprised this has been working for you at all.
there seems to be an issue with your install as Plex cannot find certain plugins – you might try to uninstall / reinstall the server (data will remain untouched by that).

PS: as for the naming… take a look at the naming conventions and try to follow them.

I found the issue. I found a new issue on my NAS Synology with network issues (update can’t be found for example). I found on the web how fix it and it was just an DNS issue. Now I fix this issue, Plex find matches.

Thanks for your help
