Improvement

Just a thought. Recently started a movie but had to stop it. Came back later and had to go through the whole library to find it and start it.
Would be nice if there was a way to see, when you open Plex, the last thing you did and start it, or re-join it . Many other streaming devices have this feature.

How far into it were you? Partially watched items should appear as a part of the “Continue Watching” hub, which is typically enabled by default

There is no “Continue Watching” option anywhere in my program. I am running 6.9.14.7448=9fa224681

Where can I find this option and make it active?

Thanks for your time to address this.

On which exact app are you experiencing this?
Based on the version number alone I guess you’re using the Plex app on a Roku box. Though the continue watching hub should be available on pretty much every platform. By default the hub will display unfinished items or upcoming ones (e.g. the next episode of a show you’ve been watching). Depending on the platform this might only apply to media from pinned libraries.

Tom, you sure do know your stuff  Yes using on TCL TV (Roki). BUt I went through every setting and there was no mention of Un-watched option. Thought I was suggesting something new for Plex which I have been using for many years now. Just a FYI, just opened Plex on my Chromebook and there was no “continue” option either there if that means anything.

Once again, thanks for your thoughts and ideas on this.

(Pre-post caveat: I do not have much experience with the Roku interface, but all the other versions seem to be fairly similar, so I HOPE I am not providing information that doesn’t apply to Roku)

It depends on the view of the library you are in. For each library you have, there is a “Recommended” page/tab, a “Library” page/tab, and a (assuming you have collections) “Collections” page/tab. You must be in the “Recommended” tab. By default, it picks quite a few categories that can select content from the library for you automatically. Some of these are random. Personally, I dislike most of them.

But the “Continue Watching” row shows up if you are either on the “Home” left-hand menu, as seen here on my Plex-for-Windows app:

It lists various shows I am part-way through, including if I am part-way in a video file itself (the orange progress bar under the first item in the row).

Each library has one, but you must be in the library’s “Recommended” tab, not the “Library” tab to see it. Or, in my case, the home-page as well has a combined “Continue Watching” category for all my libraries you see below it.

Thank you all for your time to address this. Unfortunately, although all responses were thoughtful, I have not been able to apply any of these ideas to fix my problem.

I’m sure it’s my system causing this. But thanks for all of your help!

BTW… the version of Plex Media Server is Version 4.69.1

Do you at least see the “Continue Watching” hub on the star page of your server when accessing it through your browser (e.g. using https://app.plex.tv/desktop)? This should also show on the Recommended tab of the particular library.

There is no “Continue Watching” notation on any of the platforms including 3 TV’s (All TCL/Roku) and Chromecast and Desktop.

When I open the desktop under recommendations are things like “Recently Released”, “Recently Added” etc

It must be a configuration that has got changed someplace, somehow.

In plex web ( https://app.plex.tv/desktop ) under Settings → Library what do you have set for “Weeks to consider for Continue Watching” and “Maximum number of Continue Watching items which will appear.” I don’t know what would happen if they were set to 0 (zero) or a negative number, or if the option was blank or empty.

That did it! The values were at “0”

I changed them and went to recommendations and continue watching was there!

Thanks All

:+1: I knew we’d figure it out, eventually.
