Plex doesn’t currently display metadata for the format of a TV show, such as Episodic, Anthology, Serial, etc. A taxonomy for this metadata is available on The TVDB: Taxonomy - Series - TV Type or Format - TheTVDB.com
This means, outside of manually curating collections, there is no way to watch a particular show ‘format’.
If format was included in the same way as genre, users could filters/search by format and create smart collections based on those results. This would make the shuffle feature more useful, as a user could narrow the scope to shuffle only non-linear TV series.
