Inconsistent direct play for True HD Atmos on NVIDIA Shield

Hello,

I am using an NVIDIA Shield with a QN90b display and a Bose 900 soundbar. I have been having issues with the plex app for my shield. It randomly will decide to transcode sometimes but if i close the movie and go back in the app and replay the same thing it will work fine. I am on the latest build and it has been doing this for quite some time. I do not have this issue on other devices. I am running this through 1gig Ethernet locally. I have also tried rebooting/reinstalling as well as playing with the sound settings. The video direct play doesn’t seem to have issues just the audio. I have enabled the pass-through on the tv and plex. The reason for transcode is “Direct play was attempted but failed, fallen back to transcoding”. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? Is it unusual to get a response? I have logs i can upload if needed and I also do not have this issue with Kodi.

i would upload logs and add all the tags for your system. many people who offer support here only follow the tags where they have expertise so they never see your post if it is not tagged with the correct info, e.g. you should at a minimum add shield and whatever your server is in the tags.

Thank you! Do the logs contain private data that could potentially be used by someone trying to be malicious?

i think they may contain your ip address and what you were watching during the logs and library scan stuff. nothing too special. people post them all the time and the support articles recommend it. But you can always wait for someone to ask for them and then send them in direct message. or look at them yourself around the time stamp you experience the issue. server logs.
