I’m seeing a LOT of release dates for Albums as YEAR-01-01 (i.e. 1972-01-01) when Musicbrainz has the correct date (1972-02-12) and additionally, for some reason, Plex Media Scanner Matcher.log will show and error of “ERROR - [Time] Date looks invalid: 1972–1–1”
That was it, Thanks.
I forgot that I had checked “Prefer local metadata”,
and a lot of my FLAC metadata has only had the Year for the DATE Flac Tag
I unchecked “Prefer local metadata”, and now the Musicbrainz date it used.
However, Plex Media Scanner Matcher.log is still reporting an Error:
ERROR - [Time] Date looks invalid: 1972--1--1
EDIT:
I added the full Date to the Flac DATE Tag for one Album (1972-02-12), Refreshed Metadata, and No Error, so although I unchecked “Prefer local metadata”, looks like Plex still reads the Tags, and although not used, repots a “Date looks invalid” Error (and defaults to 1-1 for mo/day) when mo/day is missing, so that explains that
I wonder… Do you also have embedded artwork and is the album art set to use it? Plex would need to extract that so could also be a factor for that error.
I have embedded Artwork in the Flac tags, and also selected "use local metedata for “Where to automatically obtain album cover art”. My Album Art is being used by Plex
Looks like Plex will substitute 01-01 in the “General” screen if only YEAR is used for the DATE (in the Tags or if Musicbrainz only has a Year), and that makes sense, but somewhere in the Plex Code, they’re most likely dropping the 0’s in the check and reporting an error for “–1–1”. So, not really an error, just a log reporting error.
