Incorrect resolution show in multi version movie

Hi all,

There are many movies contain multi versions(4K and 1080p) in my PLEX server.

However, the resolution always display 1080p instead of 4K in movie detail and PLEX will play 1080p by default and need to switch to 4K manually.

But in Grid view, the resolution of movies are correct.

Here is one of the movie’s XML.

13878.txt (52.0 KB)

How to display the correct resolution in movie detail view.

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457

Update:

I already try “Analyze”, “Empty the trash” and “Refresh metadata”, still no luck…

That looks like a screenshot from the Plex Web app. If it is, I don’t believe many web browsers support the HEVC codec used in the 4K version (from the XML)

So, Plex is choosing the correct version for the player to avoid transcoding. Manually selecting the 4K version will likely force the server to transcode to the x264/h264 format anyway.

If that is a screenshot from a device/app capable of playing HEVC 4K videos, than it is a different problem, and my comment is probably irrelevant.

Thanks for your reply!!!

I always though PLEX web apps is used to manage the movies and display the best quality metadata

There are little bit confuse but u solve my question now.

I see similar if I have an HEVC video and H.264. The web app always selects the H.264 version, but apps (like my Roku, Android TV, etc) auto-magically select the HEVC version

yes, I download window version PLEX apps and display 4K HEVC now,

thanks so much!
