I have 2 HDHomeRun Quatro Boxes for a Total of 8 Tuners, 4 in each HDHomerun Quatro box. Typically, if more than 4 different programs are to be recorded at the same time, it will try to use 5 tuners on 1 box, Incorrectly reporting '4 Tuners - 5 in use now".
This has never worked consistently and results in missed recording. Also, this happens if 4 tuners are in use and you try to watch live tv on a different channel. It almost always specifically uses 1 HDHomeRun box and never utilizes the other one. Once in a great while it works correctly, but it’s very rare.

Do you have a post-processing script defined? I have noticed that the tuner count doesn’t actually decrease until the recording has fully completed, including any post-processing.
Depending on how many recording you have scheduled at any one time, this could potentially result in the number of tuners being used being overstated like that (I can’t replicate it myself as I don’t have enough available tuners to schedule enough recordings at the same time).
However, I wouldn’t expect that to cause recordings to fail as it seems more of a display issue.
Another scenario: If I have just one HD Homerun with 4 tuners recording 4 shows at the same time and I initiate a live TV session while they are recording, it will then show ‘4 Tuners - 5 in use now’.
There have been times it worked correctly stating all tuners were in use, but most of the time it tries to use a tuner that doesn’t exist.
you shouldnt be able to initiate a live session if you are already recording 4 things. Only way it would be possible to watch anything live would be if it was one of the channels you are already recording.
