Increase Passcode Length and method

It would neat you could increase the passcode length or have password to go into administrator account as it would be quite easy to brute force into it, or i have option that normal users can’t access/see administrator account or other accounts unless their physically login their plex account. For local created account it wouldn’t apply but it would neat option to be available under restriction tab.

The passcode PIN and the Plex Home functionality where it is tied to are made to be used by family members. Hence the name ‘Plex Home’.

If you don’t trust your sharees, don’t invite them into your Home but share your server simply as ‘Friends’. Then they have no way of switching.

still it would be useful to increase the PIN number to say 6 digits. 4 digits is actually pretty useless, and defeats the purpose of having any PIN at all.

Do you have an example of where increasing the length would be useful when using Plex Home as it was intended ?

People who aren’t in your Home are already prevented from accessing it by your account password. The only people who would have the opportunity to hack your 4-digit PIN are Home members in whom you have already placed a certain amount of trust.

I have notice my children/family member accessing my account or other family members … i changed the password multiple different times.
I have all my friends as friends not as plex home so trust isn’t the issues, as some of members are not living in same household and I already warn them to stop sharing their home account instead referring me their plex account so i could add them into friends section but half them are grown adults with their own family and not as tech savy and im pretty sure their account password isn’t as well. I was thinking just of kicking them out but having this implemented only require a few tweak lines of code in all version of plex.
Just saying, changing limit of pin shouldn’t be that difficult in to implemented, for added security.

To add to this answer on how 6 digits are better than 4 when using plex home as intended, the answer is children. Have had to change my passcode numerous time to keep my 9-year-old off content he should not be able to view as 4 digits are wat to easy to figure out

But I doubt plex will make this change.

2024 clean-up: duplicate (longer, more complex passcode)
