Indirect connection to server when using app.plex.tv

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6562

got a weird problem accessing my plex server via app.plex.tv from within my own LAN.
I recently changed my router from an ASUS router to an OPNSense router.
i can access my plex server externally with no issues at all (manually configured port)

however i have an issue when accessing it from with the LAN using app.plex.tv.
it’s reporting i have an indirect connection (previously when using ASUS router it had no issues).
if i access it using the IP then there are no issues.

when i load app.plext.tv, i initially get a message saying “no content available, check your network connection”, then after about 5 seconds it refreshes then loads the content as normal

i can only assume it’s some sort of router config issue that is causing the issue, as it only happened when the router was replaced.

neither of my client devices seem to have the issue, iOS and shield clients load fine.

any suggestions how to fix this?

DNS-Rebinding protection.

OPNsense 22.7.10_2
Services > Unbound DNS > Advanced
Private Domains - enter plex.direct
Apply

Your Plex server registers a unique cert with the domain plex.direct, OPNsense’s default is localdomain so you need to tell Unbound that the plex.direct is ok.
