Indirect connection with Apple TV

Server Version#: 1.26.1.5798
Player Version#: 8.3 (2621)

Since a couple of month I have issue connecting my Apple TV 4K to plex.

To put it simply: without enabling the relay it does not work.
When I enable the relay, the Apple TV is connecting indirectly and the bandwidth is limited.

I have try playing with network settings but not luck so far.

Any idea what may be blocking ?

In the log I have this:

[11224] DEBUG - NetworkServiceBrowser: PLAYER arrived: 192.168.2.70
[49356] DEBUG - WebSocket: client initiated close
[49624] DEBUG - NotificationStream: Removing because of close
[49624] DEBUG - handleStreamRead code 2: End of file
[49624] DEBUG - Completed after connection close: [127.0.0.1:59824] -3 GET /:/websockets/notifications (3 live) GZIP 313205ms 97 bytes

Is this about devices inside your home network?

An indirect connection implies there’s 2 issues:

  1. Plex considers the device to be remote / outside your server’s network
  2. A broken remote access configuration

Thanks for the answer,

It’s only local use, I don’t use remote access.
I only have one router and both the server and the Apple TV are connected to the same network.

I also tried to configure manually the subnet as you propose, however it did not work.

Some routers will create different subnets for wired vs. wireless connections, different WLAN bands such as 2.4 vs. 5 GHz or guest network vs. regular network.

Yeah it was something like that:

I disabled in my router (Bell 3000) the Whole Home Wi-Fi settings and now everything works again (and even better !).

I don’t know what this settings is, it’s only precised to be :

Let the Home Hub optimize Wi-Fi throughout your home

So it seems it “optimize” the wifi by blocking connections between my desktop and the apple TV.

Thanks for the help ! I woun’t have searched this way without it.
