Due to the size of the APKs, they automatically get deleted. The changes in this build are being worked on to make it into a release most likely in the new year as its a big overhaul in the way our demuxer works.
@sixones The first experimental build you posted was for 8.26.0.x, which I think matched the beta at the time (I reported that fixed the infinite spinner for me).
Now I see that the non-beta release version is 8.26.2.x is available to all, does that version (and future non-beta versions) include whatever was in 8.26.0.x that helped fox the issue for me… I’m assuming it does, and therefore it’s ‘safe’ to leave the beta and things should continue to work well?
It doesn’t sadly, the changes in that particular build have been in development for some time and haven’t yet gone through QA as it’s a big change that might have unexpected issues we don’t been rushing out. If v8.26 works for you, then the issue was most likely something else. If its still a problem please use the build I just posted.
Hopefully in the next few weeks we will be releasing a special beta version that can be installed side by side the normal beta or stable releases allowing folks to try the new playback stack and let us know of any issues they come across.
I have been fighting this for months. I installed Kodi and started using that but Kodi ate up all the memory on my Shield TV. I just installed Emby and am trying that out, it if works, I am gone.
Latest testbuild is working great, only thing still is a issue is skip intro. Sometime audio/video/sub sync issiue. If i press the skip back button, the sync is correct. I have thuis issue for a long time.
Could you please post the Armv7 APK again or point me to a download location for these APK’s? I was able to get the new build installed on my Shield Pro, but I can’t grab the Tube APK due to the file being taken down.
Adding my +1 to this, happening for months now on Shield Pro.
For me it’s intermittent, sometimes media will start up right away and other times I have to retry several times. Seems to not be specific to the actual media (the same file may start right away and then later take several attempts to resume).
Another +1, and shortly after I buy a lifetime plex pass.
The nvidia shield is the center of my media consumption and for some time now I randomly have to try any number of times for a video to load or just sit there with the spinner animation going non stop.
It’s definitely some problem with the android version since when testing on my iPhone this never happens.
I will also be waiting for the link to that test version that seems to fix it.
Same issue here. I blamed it on Dolby vision and atmos so far or the fact that files are just too big but it works perfectly well with a kodi client. Is there a new build to test that is based on the latest public beta?
Linked to this thread from someone in discord relating to the issues I’ve been having with my 2017 model. Happy (but unhappy at the same time) to find others have all these issues.
Patiently waiting for updates alongside the others
I have the same issues, but with any type of file.
The server is on my shield and the file are on my synology nas (so, the nvidia is connected with my nas in smb).
If a file is loading for an infinite time, here is what I do to bypass the problem.
Start any other movie (this movie will play without any problem. I don’t know why).
Quit the movie.
Start the movie you want to watch.
It will work without any problem.
Here are my logs (the infinite loading is happening at ~16h10).
This bug only happen to me on my nvidia shield. I use plex on an android phone and I never experience an issue like this. I think the problem only hapoen on android tv device, but I am not sure.
If you need any other information, feel free to ask me.
That is the same with me. It happens on a local server, remote server, DTS audio, Dolby Digital, Shield Pro, Sony TV, etc. if it is Android and Plex it is probably going to take a couple tries to get something to play.
I just had to force close the Plex app on the 2019 Shield TV like four times before this movie I was trying to play would just fire up on first try instead of spinning circle forever.
When this behavior happens I don’t even see anything trying to play when I look at Plex server activity or tautulli.
So I’m a little skeptical about how Plex Media server logs could even show what’s happening if Plex server itself doesn’t even think the file is playing or even trying to start.
I have PMS on a synology DS920+ and this version is working great on my Shield TV 2019 Pro. Everything is playing and no buffer. The only thing is that sometimes the skip into is not correct, and the audio/video is out of sync. Skip back a few seconds will fix the issue.
@sixones could I have a link to the latest test build please, the one above isn’t available. Having loads of issues with my 2019 Shield, especially since I’ve moved to a 4k display + content
