Install Plex media server on raspbian stretch

Trying to update my raspberry pi/plex media server. It has run well for the last few years but is just a little outdated. Fresh install of Raspbian stretch with private internet access, installed plex from a tutorial on another site which seemed to break my updates. Downloaded plexmediaserver_1.15.4.994-107756f7e_armhf.deb and run the installer. eventually tries to authenticate and fails due to wrong account settings. I don’t see anywhere to input my username until it’s installed.
I would much rather not use a setup that kills off future system updates, so any help would be appreciated.

Finally choose that thread

I have installed it manually with the commands that come out there. And now I finally have the latest version.
