Installing Beta Builds & Trusting Plex's Developer Profile

Installing the Beta Build

Once you’ve joined the beta, you’ll receive an email from “BuddyBuild” when a new beta app is available for install. BuddyBuild is what we use for making the beta available to users. Your email will look something like this:

From your iOS device, view the email and then click on the Install on your device link there to initiate things.

Trusting Plex’s Developer Profile

Once you’ve installed, you’ll likely get an Untrusted Enterprise Developer (or similar) warning when you try to launch the app.

To proceed, you’ll need to approve/trust Plex. To do so:

  1. In the normal iOS device Settings, browse: Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management (or just Device Management for some iOS versions)
  2. Click on the Plex, Inc entry
  3. Choose the option to “Trust”

That will allow the beta build to run on the device.

Plex showed up on TestFlight on my iPhone today. I also got emails from Bodybuild and TestFlight about the new beta release. This is unexpected behavior. Is the iOS beta moving over to TestFlight?

yes, there was an announcement today that beta testing is being moved over to TestFlight with the next build.

does this mean we can remove the Buddybuild.com and Plex Inc profiles from our iOS devices in the settings section?

Thanks.
