Installing PlexAmp on Raspberry Pi Bookworm

Not sure if this should be here or players…?

I’m rebuilding my Plex set up and the last step is headless PlexAmp on a Raspberry Pi which is now running Bookworm. Bookworm doesn’t have the pi user any longer (well unless you create one), and I seem to be coming up blank on finding recent instruction on how to install PlexAmp.

I’ve got Node 20 installed, downloaded PlexAmp for Pi from the PlexAmp page, but from there not sure whether I need to create a pi user, a user for plexamp, or what, or how to set it up these days so it runs automatically on boot.

Tom

any normal user account will work (doesn’t have to be named pi) … you can refer to my setup notes and install script linked below … this will redo some of what you’ve already done, but among other things it sets up a systemd service to auto start plexamp on power up

…and an alternative script if you want.
