Hello,
I believe that what people want these days is speed. Now on plex part, it takes a lot of time from pressing play on a video until we have the image on screen.
A good implementation would be to start buffering the video as soon as i hover over what i want to watch, instead of pressing play and waiting, so when i press play, video on screen would be played instantly. I miss this coming from streaming platforms.

It’ll be probably worth looking into what is actually causing this for you.
There’s already a number of related feature suggestions.
One is the same as yours (therefore considering yours a duplicate)…
i did't see a form on this subject, if there is i apologies. I think it would be nice to have this option especially if its over wifi when using a tablet and or chrome-cast. plus you may need it when your on the go when you don't have a good connection.
The others approach the situation from a different angle:
I don’t think I’ve seen this. I did search, promise!
Wouldn’t it be great if whilst during a Preroll the Plex client is buffering the main title bring requested? Would make the Preroll have an extra function and would reduce the ‘buffering’ which so greatly annoys people
I mount a cloud drive which hosts my media. The Preroll video is kept locally so this plays immediately, when the actual movie starts it then has to buffer/transcode from the cloud drive which could ideally be done …
With a lot of people are taking up impressive unlimited cloud drive offerings and moving their Plex media content “to the cloud”, load times can sometimes be annoying for media.
A lot of what I watch will be from the On Deck section though, so I suggest having Plex Clients cache the first ~minute or so of the first ~10 items in the On Deck section, to allow instant playback and give PMS time to catch up.
At 20Mbps, caching the first minute of 10 items on deck would cost only 1.5GB of hard driv…
Better buffering of content from remote myPlex serversMany domestic Internet uplinks are weak. People want to view and share their content from their home Internet. So: Buffer content Youtube-style. When I pause a stream, keep caching it ahead as much as I want it to.
This is a great idea, that:
- would give much better viewing experience from remote and shared myPlex servers.
- is intuitive: everyone who's ever used Youtube already knows how this works.
- lets you view high quality conten…
This piggybacks off of the youtube-style buffering, but I have done my best to go into much more detail about usage and function as well as proposing an entirely new feature: SmartSync.
I’d like a clear set of controls in the settings panel on the player app (Shield TV 2015 for me) that allows me to set the “buffer ahead” value to anything from 30 seconds to infinite (buffer all). This is talked about in another thread here
Couple that with a setting to “pre-buffer Up Next” which would use ext…
All in all… I suggest you comment/vote in those threads in order to avoid further distracting/dispersing votes.
