Integrating a Plex client into VLC

Especially useful for shared music libraries
Is there any chance for integrating a Plex client into VLC.

Both for Mac and PC.

However integrating the client into VLC, will allow any computer w. VLC to playback content in a Plex Media Server.

Especially useful for shared music libraries.

:P

I tried to use VLC as a DLNA client but no luck.

I was able to get VLC to recognize PMS after a few minutes but VLC would never expand the library. It looked as if my server was a single file.

If VLC were to support Plex Access, pretty much any computer on the planet would have Plex Client ability. Browse and playback plex content.

VLC handles streaming via commands that are very man-unfriendly and too complex for most humanbeings. Browsing the http front should trigger the VLC commands and playback in rtp/rtsp within VLC

Full integration is a must, otherwise the mass-market will drop out.

VLC offers 4 kinds of streams:
HTTP
UDP
MMSH
RTP

I recommend using the MediaCloud a free DLNA Media Player for Mac to play audio and video streams with a nice and simple interface. http://www.keymolen.com/mediacloudv2.html

Early 2021 clean-up: implemented (DLNA server)
