Integration SmartHome systems

Hello all,

 

I am thinking about integration of SmartHome systems. For example openHAB (http://www.openhab.org) seems to be a valid candidate with a rich REST interface. 

But I understand that the Plex APIs are based on streams (audio, video). 

 

So my question is:  is there a chance I integrate other resources (in this case I want to provide own UI-Widget with switches, sliders and similar stuff you need to control your devices)?

In the  developer docs I don't find anything.
