Why don't we have native smart-home/api integration?

Seriously? At this point it should have been part of Plex Media Server over five years ago.

We should be able to connect to the philips hue bridge, LIFX Cloud, Apple Home, and/or Google Home service natively from within the server settings.

No manually coding webhooks, building janking github listening apps from source.

It should be ‘connect to a service’ from within the server settings. provide authentication token, and go.

Many, including the developers seem to take great pride in plex being easy to use and manage, and for many things it is. But for this it was somehow decided that users should require Star Fleet warp engineering degrees to make their lights look prettier when they watch a movie? I don’t understand how that’s even considered acceptable.

Yeah webhooks are a part of plex pass. To bad most of the people who get plex pass will never in their lives be able to make even the most basic use of webhooks. Offering webhooks as the option / solution to that desired feature is like slamming a 1000 page book about json in front of someone who asked you if you could turn the lights off.

I’ll never be able to grasp when everyone is just settling for things the way they are.
