Intel ARC A580 HW Transcode Playback Issues

Server Version#: 1.40.3.8555
Player Version#: 10.0.25398.4909 Client Version: 5.85.0

When trying to transcode 4K HEVC media using the Intel ARC A580 the playback stutters and loads in short junks.

Looking at the console logs no errors are reported and it does initialize the A580 correctly.

Looking at the server dashboard the CPU usage goes up to 50% which has me wondering if it trying to use the CPU instead of the GPU for transcoding.

I only have an Intel i5 6500 so it doesn’t support most modern codecs so it would fail to do a transcode.

My server is running bar metal with Ubuntu 22.04.4 with the 6.5.044 kernel.

I am at a loss for what/where the issue is coming from.

Plex does not officially support Intel ARC GPUs (include drivers).

You must install drivers yourself.

When installed, you’ll have the same SDR-level of transcoding support as AMD GPUs.

Plex does support Quicksync through the CPU correct?

So if I was to replace the i5 6500 with say a i3 14100 that supports new codecs that should work correct?
