Intranet, Offline, and the boonies

So I'm building a house and there currently isn't internet in the area. Fortunately I have Plex and my library converted to stream. I have Roku 3's iPads, iPhones, and Androids. My question is this:

Will Plex work within my home network without internet access to my listed devices using the apps without having to sync?

I'll step out on a limb here with my limited experience, and I welcome someone to correct me if I'm wrong, but...

You should be able to run your own network of all these devices without constant internet access.  Although I think the Roku might need internet access for it's initial setup - and I believe the iProducts will need access to install the apps though iTunes.

Once the apps are installed and your Plex Media Server is running, I would think you could operate independent of internet connections.  However certain features (mostly PlexPass related) will not be available to you... things like PlexHome... since it needs to contact plex.tv to verify user authentication, etc...  Some of the other advanced features of the Plex experience may also not be available, such as Trailers, since Plex looks to the internet for them.

Just my $.02

Also, since sync is a Pass only feature, you won't be able to do this without an internet connection.  Managed users (Plex Home) as Plexhilarated said won't work.  No trailers, no posters and i'm not sure you are going to get good title info, as you aren't going to be able to match to any of the agents.  Your naming is going to have to be real good quality, so when you do get an internet connection, things are matched up right...

Yes, this should work, but there are a lot of things that WON'T work as well...

How are you going to “add” new media? I’m not sure what/how the server is going to handle not having an internet connection when trying to add new media (posters, descriptions, etc).

What I would suggest doing is downloading the software and install it on a computer that has no Internet connectivity.
You should be able to pretty quickly determine what works and what doesn’t this way.

Thanks for the information guys. I appreciate It. I absolutely realize the ramifications of posters, titles, etc. My question mostly revolves around content delivery to devices mentioned above using anew intranet connection that had no outside Internet connectivity

Been a while on this but I thought I’d comment to see if anyone has ideas. I have no internet but do have my local intranet. My room plex app won’t connect to the server. All other devices do.

Help!

Which app is that?

Ah, I see you started a new thread for this issue. I’ll respond there. Should I close this thread for you?
