I’m currently running plex server using a Windows mini with an intel core ultra 9 185 H and 32gb ram. Media is stored on my local network using a NAS. Overall the detecting intros feature seems pretty buggy. Even getting intros to be detected is an issue having to sort ty shows by season and delete the audio codec folder and restart etc. I even have to do this multiple times sometimes to get intro detection to “trigger”.
I have a pretty big library with over 600 shows and the main issue is each season taking around 40 min to detect intros. Is this normal, it seems extremely slow? CPU usage is also very low pretty much always below 2% when detecting intros. I’ve tried reinstalling plex etc.
How much free space is left on your system drive?
That is the place (or more specifically the user’s /temp folder) where the audio track of all episodes is being stored as a converted WAV file, until they can be analyzed together.
If your C: drive is almost full, or abysmally slow for some other reason, intro detection will be slow.
Another tip: You might want to instruct your anti virus software to keep out of the Plex data folder.
You might want to move the analysis into the server maintenance period. Particularly when adding lots of episodes at once, the analysis can impede regular server operation.
