I have the same issue with the same episode. Also season 2 of Alex Rider is behaving the same way. Good to know I’m not alone in this. It’s been driving me insane. I guess the Plex scanner isn’t updating its cache, despite the info being available on tvdb for well over a week.
I love Plex, and I really appreciate all the ongoing development and adding/improving of features, but the aggregation of metadata has been a huge mess lately. There’s a reason why one source is called The MOVIE Database and the other The TV Database. Mixing them was never a good idea, IMHO.
Which agent are the two tv libraries using? and check the plex media info xml of that episode and see what the GUID is which will show if it is using one different than the library default.
If your library is using the new agent and you want to try data from another source just change the episode ordering for either the library or that individual show. (at the show level there are more options for tvdb)
it take 24-48 hours for us to get data from the tvdb or tmdb, we might just not have data from thetvdb yet for episode 10
@BigWheel I’m having the same issue for Invasion as the OP and I can tell you that I am using the new agent for my TV series.
Here is the relevant part of the XML for the episode (note I manually add the titles for missing episodes but don’t lock them as normally if the title was missing by the next refresh I do it’s there, except in this case where I had to put it back).
[Not sure if my XML is relevant but figured I’d supply it]
And in response to your update that came through as I was typing this reply, episode 10 does have information as I just added that episode today and the title and description are available (I’m using TheTVDB as my default source). Episode 9 is a week old so that data should be available.
ok. I just added a couple test files and for me using new agent. Changed the episode ordering for of that show manually to test both options. TheMovieDB (aired) and TheTVDB (aired)
Episode 9 came back fine for both of them
for episode 10 it looks like we do not have data from the themovieDB yet.
I’m not sure why it would not pull data for episode 9 for you @shark2k since you are using TVDB. have you tried refreshing metadata manually for that show? (at show level)
Yup, I did a refresh of the metadata today when I added episode 10. I just did it again to see what happens and after I refreshed the metadata at the show level, the title of episode 9 went back to TBA.
Out of curiosity I switched the show to use TheMovieDB (Aired Order) and then did another refresh and all the titles and descriptions are coming back correctly. Just to confirm, I did go back to library default and refreshed again and the title for episode 9 reverted to TBA again. Again out of curiosity I decided to specifically select TheTVDB (Aired Order) and did a refresh with the same result. Then, again because of curiosity, I switched to TheTVDB (DVD Order) and did a refresh and the metadata actually came back correctly.
Not sure if logs would help you with this? I did set my logs to keep 50 a while back (think I was having an issue with something and wanted more logs) and haven’t changed it back (and anytime I think about it there is activity on my server so I can’t stop it to make the change). However, aside from that, if you want, I can grab the logs for you and upload them to my GDrive and then share the link with you, just let me know.
Just sent you a PM with the link.
Hopefully it will help figure out what is going on and hopefully it is something similar to the OP and other poster with the issue.
And understood about probably having to wait for someone on the metadata team.
As I mentioned in my original post if you change to the old agent all metadata is correct.
This seems odd as that episode (initally) showed up correctly and the metadata for that episode is correct on watch.plex, so where did that come from?
I will fiddle around with the ordering and see what happens.
Edit:
Ok so changed the ordering on my test server and the refreshed and the metadata now shows correctly.
Went back to my Primary server and without changing anything on there did a refresh on the Show and now all the metadata appears to be correct. So the problem seems (at least for me) appears to be fixed.
Edit 2:
hmm, just looked at my copy of Alex Rider and yep that seems pretty messed up as well.
In my case, with the default settings (my Default for the Library is theTVDB), Neither season had any metadata.
If I change ordering to The Movie Database (Aired) that seemed to fix it
Yep same here, Season 5 of that is full of TBA titles and no summaries, again changing ordering to The Movie Database (Aired) seems to fix that as well.
