iOS Client SSL Tunnel

Dear all,

I’m completely satisfied with this media solution. This is the greatest media center software and I really enjoy it every day.

I just would like to point something related with security. I know there are several posts about this but non of them answered my question.

The connection between Clients (Windows, iOS, etc) and myPlex is fully SSL encrypted. This is not the case for the connection between client and PMS. This imposes a (IMHO) very high security risk, since anyone could capture the connection token, and then use it to connect to my PMS and browse my pictures and private stuff.

I was able to perform a workaround for this using stunnel (building a SSL tunnel mapping ports), and this is working like a charm for the Plex media management console, but unfortunately, the iOS app seems to not to be prepared to connect to a server which is listening on a SSL connection.

Are you planning to work on this? Am I missing something?

Many thanks in advance and thanks for this great product!

Moving to a more appropriate sub-forum.

I dont think iOS supports SSL (natively atleast) but I have setup and used both L2TP and PPTP VPN and the iOS Plex cient can connect to my PMS fine.

Thanks for your comment. I thought about VPN, in fact, that would solve all security concerns. The only problem is that I'm using Windows 7 which only supports PPTP that is no so strong. In order to use L2TP / IPSEC I would need to install a server OS. Another choise would be OpenVPN, but there is no iOS client for this.

Cheers!
