The app is constantly freezing and I have to swipe it away from running apps to open again. This happens in different areas of the app, but most commonly it happens when I try to organize a library browse by date added. When I click the sort button it freezes the whole app and the cycle repeats
My app freezes on my iPhone 17 with ios 26 as soon as Ii want to select an other categorie in my library. Have to kill the app and reload but it keeps on happening.
I am also getting constant freezes on the iOS Plex app running on an iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 18.6.2. It occurs every time I go to browse my library, or if I try to press any of the filter buttons, or even switch to collections.
Of course the old Plex app never froze. And other apps like a HTPC work flawlessly. But when they switched to the new app design on iOS earlier this year, everything broke and it’s a shame it hasn’t been patched yet to a functional status. Plex needs to focus on fixing bugs before implementing any other features.
Happening for me when I try to filter or sort. Basically makes the iOS app useless. I can only use it if i search for something specific and then hit play, because browsing the Libraries freezes the app
It makes Plex unusable so now using Infuse to connect to our Plex Server.
Infuse plays media that Plex won’t. It’s more responsive as well.
The lack of forum responses from Plex, the absence of updates for PMS and Plex HTPC, it just feels sad in here.
Edit - just saw another iOS update drop but no mention made of fixes for the UI freezing out the device. No mention of fixes for downloads. Infuse just keeps on working.
@JohnAlex did you end up trying the iOS update and is it any better? I may check, but honestly Plezy is working better than the official app ever did for me…
EDIT: haha, I installed an update that App Store said was added “2h ago” and yeah, it didn’t fix anything for me. Awesome.
No improvement and I didn’t expect anything as it was not listed in the fix list.
I’ll stick with Infuse and to be honest, there is no reason I would go back now as I am finding Infuse plays media better and overall runs better on iOS.
