iOS / iPadOS Does Not Ask to Watch Live and Does Not Seek to End when Recording

With the new iOS / iPadOS apps if you are recording then you cannot jump to live when using the channel. It does not give you the option. You cannot seek to the end either. You’re stuck watching whatever you are recording from the beginning. I’ve been having to use the HDHR app to watch things live if I want to record something. The web interface, Apple TV, and Xbox all give the option. This seems to be an issue only on iOS / iPadOS with the newer redesigned app. Does anybody know how to address this or am I just stuck waiting for an update that fixes this issue?

iPhone - Can't move to live TV if recording in progress

UGH, that’s a big help, but that’s quite the process and I’m already hung up. I need to roll back my iTunes first apparently and having a problem with that before I can move forward. Good grief! But, when I get some time here I’ll dig into it. I need my live tv on Plex for football season. People are counting on me to keep them up to date. This is so annoying. Apparently it’s been a known issue for many months.

The newer app seems more like an alpha release than anything else. I’m surprised it still isn’t in TestFlight instead of having been let into the wild. Hopefully they leave the Apple TV app alone until they iron all this out.

Longer than that. Guess it isn’t a priority. I really wish I could just go back to an older version of the app. IMO this should still be in TestFlight. It was released way too prematurely.

No news for this? Started watching NBA games, can’t seek a recording event make it unusable. Hope there’s a fix soon.

A workaround once a recording is set. Go to another channel and start watching, stop that show and go back to original channel and watch live. That should activate another tuner.

I came to the forum looking for a fix, and sad to see this. Yet another bug in the “new” app that’s been out for a while. This stinks. It makes the feature useless.

I called home and had my wife stop recording, which let me stream again live, but…I had to close out for a few minutes. When I went back, it’s like it started recording when I got streaming working again, and I was back where I started. Awful. I expect better.

I’m not sure what the primary devs are working on, but I see a lot of bugs in the forum. I’d be willing to kick in for specific bug bounties!

Whereas I understand it’s a workaround that can work this is kind of a ridiculous solution. The older plex app worked just fine. I feel like I’m alpha testing the new one.

Thankfully they haven’t broken the Apple TV app yet. But losing this functionality has me just using jellyfin as an alternative.

Same issue here for months, but on both my android devices. Works fine on web or Roku players. Running the latest public release on the server, silicon dust gateway, and clients.
