I use my Plex mobile app during football season so this just popped up. No problem in the past. I have the current iPhone app. I run two servers, one on a Windows 11 PC and another from a Synology box. I get the same issue with both, so I think it’s the mobile app. I record the game on both servers because one is reserved for my household. So, I start the game at home from the more powerful Windows server and watch part of the game. Leave and try to go back to the game remotely on my iPhone. It wants to start where I left off. I can’t go to live. It doesn’t ask me where to pickup and I have no option. The slider will let me slide forward, but as soon as I let go, it goes back to where I left off. I switch to the Synology server and it starts at the beginning, but again will not let me move forward.
I see this in some posts several years old, but nothing current. What’s up, Doc’s?
Issue: When watching a Live TV recording in progress, there is no dialog box/prompt for “Watch Live or “Start at Beginning” like there used to be, or like there currently is in the Roku app on my TV.
When I select the show that is being recorded, and is in progress, it just starts from the beginning. Dragging the slider to advance it doesn’t work–it just goes back to the start.
So it’s a bug, not my system. Is Plex listening? This is a huge deal. Football season/live TV is probably half of my Plex motive. I run a completely separate server just for streaming live tv and transcoding. But it’s largely worthless now.
So this doesn’t help with Plex fixing their “update",” but this thread about how to install old iOS Plex worked for me. I now have the prompt to watch live or from the start with “tape delayed” Live TV.
I did the Windows process. Took me a solid hour to work through all the steps. But now I have old Plex on my iPad and it works like it should.
UGH, that’s a big help, but that’s quite the process and I’m already hung up. I need to roll back my iTunes first apparently and having a problem with that before I can move forward. Good grief! But, when I get some time here I’ll dig into it. I need my live tv on Plex for football season. People are counting on me to keep them up to date. This is so annoying. Apparently it’s been a known issue for many months.
The same thing happens on Android version. Of all the things they should have tested, this is one at the top of my list. If recording i need the option to start from beginning or watch live. Simple as that.
