I looked at previous topics, but found no solution.
Plex on iOS and iPadOS turns closed captions on by default when watching LiveTV. I do not see this behavior on the TVOS, Android, PlexWeb, HTPC Plex players.
Is there a way to have Plex on iOS and iPadOS not turn on closed captions on by default?
Under iOS Settings, Accessibility, Subtitles and Captioning, everything is toggled off.
The HDHomerun app (for LiveTV) on iOS and iPadOS does not exhibit this defualt-on behavior.
I have the very same issue and would also like a fix! My versions are up-to-date.
Same issue here. Running iOS 26.3.1 on iPhone 16. All CC settings in phone disabled. I can toggle the “subtitles” to unknown, then back to off, which will remove them, but when jumping between a few channels, it’s frustrating to have to either toggle the settings each time, or just deal with the text on the screen.
Still an issue for me too.
Same for me as well. It’s been doing this for several months now. It is aggravating because in some cases it causes transcodes. Which then triggers a behavior when you minimize the app, and go back to that channel, it will start the feed from the very beginning when you began watching the show. For example if you’re watching a sporting event, an 2 hours into the event you have to minimize the app to do something. When you go back to it, you’re at the very beginning of the event, with no way to fast forward back to live.
Hopefully these forced subtitles get resolved with an update soon.
No issue with the hdhomerun app or using the channels iOS app either. So I know this issue is unique to plex.
