Dear employee,
Since the new update whenever i want to play a 4k stream on my iPhone model doesn’t matter it’s the same on all iOS devices the stream is transcoded (video) i know for a fact this worked fine before. Doesn’t matter if its local on wifi or extern on cellular and the settings are set to max direct play it will not play direct but transcode please fix this asap. Also the phone gets extremely warm when just browsing in the app. Thanks in advance. Gr Bangin Beatz
For 1080 there probably is a fix when you set the video quality to Max and subtitles to Automatic than 1080 will direct play 4k however will not play direct. Gr.
My 1080p HEVC files aren’t direct playing anymore after the Plex overhaul on iOS either. It worked great before. Even if I set it to original quality in the app (which is counter intuitive to it being ‘original’ quality)
There should be a button in quality settings called “Direct Stream” and if it can’t achieve this, then notify the end user and go to their transcoded ‘maximum’.
Having the same issues. Furthermore, as my Plex server is a VM on a NAS, which never was meant to transcode stuff, I can’t even watch any of my HEVC videos on my iOS devices (iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 15 Pro Max, latest iOS each), because I there now of course get a “not enough CPU for conversion…” message. Doesn’t matter if 1080p or 4k. Worked beautifully without transcoding before that update.
Same
Screen resolution and lip sync is all off on new ios app. If i use a hdmi on my phone to tv the image seems compressed. Never been an issue before, its how I watch films when travelling
The whole update is broken! So many things wrong with it
