iOS not displaying subtitles

The video kind of explains it all. When I’m on the preview screen, it lists all the various subtitles appropriately, but once the video starts playing, it doesn’t recognize any of them, it will allow you to search open subtitles, but it still will not display them.

Only happens on a few episodes of this show, doesn’t happen on other videos, and it also does not happen with the same videos on Android.

It also appears to be transcoding? This is a 1080p video that displays normally on android, but this looks almost like 360p and it doesn’t give me access to the display quality settings.

I really need some help here, this is a problem.

Hi, Video says need to be signed in. Don’t have a flickr/yahoo account.

You don’t see playback setting at all during playback or just the quality setting is not there. Do you have the setting in the main settings of app to set the defaults?

I’m not sure on the defaults. I can’t get imgur to do non-gif video

Can you message me your iOS logs from after trying to playback the video with sub

Can you play that same episode that does not work and get the server logs as well. If it is transcoding then the server should be embedding it in the image. Do you know if the previous episode that you said did work was also transcoding?

You should be able to see in the server dashboard if transcoding. I don’t have the file but renamed one to be that Always Sunny S07E07 and did the subtitle search to get the same subtitle you got and it appears to be working transcoding or not.

should look like so if transcoding

Plex

Logs sent. I said it appeared to be transcoding because it was playing at a much lower video quality, which I assume means transcoding.

The other episodes without the subtitle or quality issues had “play original quality” selected, which I assume means no transcode.

It does not mean that. something transcoded can still be the same original quality. It could just convert the format.

Thank you for the logs
