The two iPhones in my house been unable to use the Plex iOS for I'm figuring weeks now:
The App would open, would find the server, but would then be completely unresponsive.
The "Vote our App!" alert would pop up, but I couldn't dismiss it.
I could (maybe) get into a library only to then have it freeze up and would be unable to browse any of the listings.
I did once manage to somehow bamboozle my way into the Advanced settings and clear the cache. That also did nothing.
So after much Googleage, I didn't find squat. No one else seemed to be having these issues. I was going to make a forum post, but I saw a sticky outlining how to post the console log - perhaps this would help?
Docking the phone, opening the iPhone Config Utility, and checking on the console tab of my device, I found that the phone was seeking out for all servers/devices on the network (as expected). I noticed that my Rasplex boxes were on version 1.0.7 (experimental v9.9.17) and not the 1.0.9 as being reported on the other iPhone, but more importantly, the server.
I downloaded and updated to v9.9.20, and was instantly back in business.
Just sharing in case someone runs across the same issue.
tl;dr If your remote app isn't working, perhaps you need to update your Rasplex.
Most welcome! It was really frustrating and there wasn't anything on the net that was even close to what I was experiencing. I didn't want to update Rasplex because reconfiguring things is not hard, but takes time.
Ends up, I should have done it all along. I guess that comes with using the Experimental release, right? :D
As a side note, i know there is a way to update rasplex by copying only kernel and system files.
This avoid loosing the configuration upon update. haven't done this myself but i have read that some people were doing that obviously with some success.
You might wanna do some research about that for the next time :)
yes this was due to the Plex people changing the way the remote API worked. the rasplex facebook page has quite a few updates about it. they fixed it in the experimental build and it will be fixed in the stable release coming soon. if you're using the newest version of the iOS app you need to be using the current experimental build to have full functionality. glad you got it working

I'd thought about this, but figured with it being an experimental release it would be best to just reconfigure from scratch. If they were proper, full releases, no doubt!

FB page, you say? Good to know for next time. I'd figure the forums were a more reliable place.

Thanks for the tips!
Well Forums should be the right place for issues. FB is meant to provide some eventual news on the progress :)
