I know there have been countless topics regarding offline usage of Plex but I can’t seem to find one that can really help me.
For the last few days there have been several internet outages in my area so I was left offline.
No worries I’ve said to myself, I was careful, I’ve manually added the local server in my app. Wrong!
With no internet, the app just gets stuck at the logo… there is nothing I can do on the TV to reach my content. Still haven’t found a way to solve this. How can I access my local Plex without internet?
Now, back to the topic title. One of my neighbors had the same internet issues as I did but plex worked like a charm. The difference? He uses iOS and apple tv.
He took out his iPhone which was connected to my wifi, opened plex and started a movie from my server to which he has access. I took out my S20, opened plex and stared at the logo…
He said that his Apple TV does the same, it does not care about internet connection and lets him view his content. Both my Samsung and LG TVs just tell me to bugger off with the nice plex logo.
Why can we have this behavior on Apple devices and not the rest?
