IP Address / Hostname of WinTV DualHD Tuner?

Hi All,

I just picked up the WinTV DualHD tuner and plex doesn’t see it. How do I find the IP addy or hostname?

First: it should be installed in the machine running plex server. You might need to restart the plex service after inserting the device (not sure here). Then you shouldn’t need an IP address, since plex will access it through the USB port, not the through the network.

If you have your plex server in a virtualized environment (VMWare / docker / whatever), make sure you forward the USB device to your virtual machine.

I use a windows pc as my Plex server and the tuner’s software is also installed on that machine. I also have the tuner plugged into that same machine. I know it should find it, but for some reason it doesn’t.

I have tried restarting with no luck. I know it’s recognized by the computer because it works directly with the Hauppauge software and because I can see it in device manager.
