Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD 1595 Support

I purchased the above named tuner and am having a problem with Plex locating it on my network, whether it be searching for it or adding it manually. I first installed it on my PC with no luck there, so I installed it to my Shield. The Shield located it and was able to set it up, but I had to setup the Shield Plex Server. So now, If I want to look at live TV, I have to change servers, something that I don’t want to have to do, and shouldn’t have to do.
Any suggestions to get my main server seeing this tuner on my network?

Edit:
Main server is on a Linux machine
Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.4.0-79-generic x86_64)

I have found that restarting plex (the server) and then configuring the DVR functionality right away, often has some desirable results.

Thanks for the suggestion @SingleServingSociety , but I still get nothing from it.

Not sure what your configuration is. But the server needs to be able to communicate with the card directly. So if you are using any virtualisation, make sure you forward the hardware to the plex server.

No virtualization. Just a standard home network with all devices running through LAN/WAN.
The Plex Server (Linux Machine) and the Shield are on the same network, and both are connected via LAN.
I can ping my Shield from my Linux machine, but Plex still refuses to see the tuner at that IP address.

I too am having this issue. Have a plex media server set up on my Desktop as well as my ShieldTV.
I get the same thing as shown in the screenshot. Cannot get Plex to detect the tuner during DVR setup.

It may be worth noting that I have tried the DVR setup inside of my Desktop Plex server and my Shield one, just to be sure. Also tried the suggestion of restarting it. No avail just yet.

You can’t use the ip address of a plex server (on the shield) as the tuner on another plex server (linux machine).

The Tuner is on my network via the Shield.
The way it is stated “… on the network” I should be able to plug the Tuner into my Router and it should work. (Disclaimer: I know it wont work via my router because I cant install the software. Just using that as an example of “… on the network”).

I get the same problem with it plugged into a Windows Machine. If it isn’t going to locate the device on the network, then it should not state “Looking for compatible devices on your network”, but rather “… on this machine” or even “Looking for compatible devices”.

A USB tuner is not ‘on the network’ and is only accessible to a local plex server.

I get what you’re saying and refer to the last sentence of my previous post.

Local USB tuner support came after hdhomerun support so some text may need updating.

I just bought mine specifically for plex and it can’t find my dualhd either. Any solutions yet?

I just noticed you are on kernel 4.4, have you tried updating to 4.8? See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack for info on switching from the GA kernel to HWE kernel.
