I watch mostly on my iPad 4th Generation and this happens really often on the ipad if I’m moving between the full screen on the movie/show constantly then the UI bugs out and I have to close the app and start again.
When will the bug be corrected? 3 months have passed, it still exists in the latest version.
When they figure out what is causing it.
This is old but looks like the same issue:
https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/127904
I’ve had the orientation lock off and it seemed to be the workaround but today that wasn’t the case. Not sure how it was triggered but I’m back with the home bar halfway down the screen!
nothing like trying to show your friends the plex app and this happens ![]()
Same issue here
iPhone 15
App 8.23
iOS 17.3.1
However, I can confirm that this happened on my iPhone 13 with older iOS.
Steps to reproduce (I always have player landscape mode on because why watch any other way):
- Playback anything
- Close the player
- Bug!
- Stays the same until I close the app and start again
The same issue for me, this bug has confused me for a very long time, I never encountered this with other apps.
Same bug here.
iPhone 15 Pro Max
Bug is still present (with the same workarounds) as of Plex 8.32 on iOS 17.3.1 on iPhone 15 pro. Keeping thread alive until this is fixed, it’s annoying as hell.
I don’t understand how this bug isn’t fixed. It’s so prevalent.
I do use portrait lock but it happens with it off as well. Playing a video triggers a full screen landscape view and occasionally the top menu bar will snap downwards as the landscape video renders. At which point it’s broken until the app force closes.
Seems like some kind a race condition as it’s not predictably reproducible. (Which is not to say it’s at all rare.)
iPhone 14 Pro Max
17.3.1
Plex app 8.32
Bumping as well because it’s incredibly annoying. iPhone 14 Pro. Open a tv show or movie and go in and out of the app a couple times. Guarantee to appear for me.
Yep, happening to me as well. It’s very easily reproducible with @cblevins321 video, so don’t know what’s being so difficult about fixing this bug
iPhone 14 pro
App 8.32
iOS 17.3.1
Bumping. Bug still present with same behavior in latest Plex 8.33 update. iPhone 15 pro iOS 17.4
This has caused me to pay for and switch to infuse.
Curious if the developers just gave up on trying to fix this major UI glitch or what? I’m constantly force closing the app to snap it out of this glitch and it’s super annoying.
Bug is still present in Plex 8.34 on iOS 17.4.1
Last update from an admin was 2/9/24 and wasn’t so much of an update as a snarky remark to a user. This thread was first opened in October 2023. I do not believe this is an issue that would require more than 6 months of work to investigate and resolve. It is clear this is not a priority for their dev team.
I’m moving to another service. What Plex chooses to have their dev team prioritize is sliding further and further from what their customer base is asking for.
Can’t believe this bug has not been fixed yet. Is there an ETA yet? Just saying you will fix it once you know what causes it isn’t really an answer…
@BigWheel it’s been a while since we’ve gotten an update on this. Is it being worked on?
It is among other things as well. I’m, sorry i don’t have any ETA
