iPhone/IOS Buffering/Stuttering

I have had plex a long time and had no issues. Nothing I have had changed set up wise.

I play from my iPhone to my chromecast and my server is my laptop.

In the past week videos constantly stutter and buffer. Like literally 10 seconds will play it stops and buffers then another 10 seconds.

I’ve checked my wifi channel - not congested. I have tried changing the quality to stream (even though I shouldn’t have to as it has always been fine on default)

Nothing has changed and now this is always happening?

  1. Any ideas why and how to resolve
  2. With plex rather than start stop, start stop is there not a way for it to buffer for a longer time to pre load more of the video so that it does not have to keep stopping?

If you have a Dual Band Router try another Band . Example: 2.4GHz or 5 GHz To add with 2.4GHz band I have always found the higher end better, little Channel 10 or 11. I would also suggest a regular router restart, make sure it is not obstructed, to close to another appliance, are thee any new appliances in the house. Try turning of everything else in the Range of the WiFi. How old is the router? Create a New" lease" on apple devises. Example: New wifi connection. I have 2 iPads, 2TV’s and have no issues, yes the TV’s are Ethernet connected. The only issue with the ipads sometimes is quickly resolved with a new Lease.
