When family watches on my server - from iphones (all other types works - even ipads) - then i very often cant see that that they are on the server - and what ever they have been watching oc is not in the log on the user - logs i can live with - but i sure cant live with ppl being able to be online on my server and i cant even see it - and this is not new - so not just this version of server
What version of iPhone players are they each using?
newest apps in their phones at all times - so not a new problem in apps / players either
And iOS v12. x or are these older iDevices?

Not sure what’s going on then. My iPhone X shows up just fine on my dashboard when I’m viewing/listening to my Plex content…
talked it over now with the wife … she haves a good idea why/when it fails …
on iphone … if you just stop app … and dont log out (cause why should you) - then after some time, i cant see it on server - but if she logs out and on plex again on phone - shes pops right back up - so seems like an IOS thing … my best bet.
(they dont use it daily or even weekly)
She should try stopping the video before quitting the app. She shouldn’t need to log on and log out all the time. There’s a small x on the upper right part of the screen when you tap during playback…
She do that - not sure if the boys do it - but i know she does - so its not that - but nice idea
I can only go by what you said which was "if you just stop app … ". If you stop the video first, it should work better.
