I have made a basic web remote for Plex to be used by any device with a web browser, but formatted for the iPhone/iPod Touch browser.
To use the remote, unpack the zip file and place the Remote folder within the Plex.app.
Instructions:
Unpack the file so that the Remote Folder is seen.
Go to the Applications Folder, find the Plex application. Right-Click and select "Show Package Contents"
Browse: "Contents>Resources>Plex>web" and copy the Remote Folder.
Usage:
Make sure that the web server is turned on in Plex (In settings)
Find the IP address or Bonjour address such as "Mac.local"
Use the URL "http://[IP]:3000/Remote/remote.html" replacing [IP] with the IP address or Bonjour address.
Adding to Home Screen:
Click on the plus(+) button on Mobile Safari and click "Add to Home Screen" and click Add.
If there are any suggestions or questions please either reply to this post or send me a message.
If you look at the first post, 4 of the buttons have a white background at the outer edges instead of a transparent background.
I modified these buttons so they match the rest of the icons, if anyone else wants to fix, just replace the buttons below with the ones in the images directory of Plexer’s download.
When you reload the screen should refresh with the fixed buttons.
This works great. It’s currently the only option I’ve got that works on Android. The only thing I’d like is the ability to scroll by letter. When scrolling through a large library it takes a while to have to constantly hit the over button, but I’ll deal. Thanks again for the effort!
If you're looking for an android remote, stay tuned :)
I'm hoping I'll be done before the hollidays, just waiting for my graphics guy to fix some of the icons for other resolutions than QVGA/HVGA.
It will just be a basic remote in the first release but i got some nice features in the pipe for when plex 9 comes out =)
