I’ve being using flex since 2008/2009 and so far it was the best user experience I had with media servers. But this user experience has dropped to the worse experience when I’ve tried to watch IPTV channels on plex. Tried some years ago with a plugin , with no success and on one newer version the plugin set up was totally removed from the server. Last month I thought “it has being s a while, plex for sure had time to provide an IPTV solution out of the box…”. But no… there is no solution out of the box… After some reading I’ve tried XTEVE, that works faultless with VLC for example, but on plex “Live TV & DVR” it’s a nightmare, so many errors during playback that I gave up AGAIN. I’ve tried Emby, that has out of the box solution for the IPTV m3u playlist, should I move to Emby? Would even buy the lifetime Plex Pass IF this feature is provided… Come on plex management/developers, solve this for good and make a lot of users happier…
Use TVheadend as your backend and pipe that into Plex. Works flawless for me.
Once TVheadend is configured it can be integrated into any platform of your choosing.
BTW it’s not Plex that is ■■■■ for IPTV, it’s FFmpeg and the incorporation of load balancers/URL forwarders that your provider uses.
I couldn’t find tvheadend for Mac. On what sever are you running TVheadend? (the install procedure for linux is not for the average user… )If plex wants to be the one stop shop for all media content it’s time to make IPTV available…
Use Docker to install it.
