Is Apple TV HD capable of x265/HEVC content?

Hi there,

I cannot playback any x265 mkv via the Plex App on my Apple TV HD. It is stuttering permanently.
I have no problem with other devices (iPhone, PC).

I understand that this Apple TV Generation was released nearly a decade ago, so there is my question: Is this problem caused by the limited power of the device or is this a general problem with the tvOS Plex App?

I do not want to transcode my content as the server cpu is weak. I do not want to use Infuse because my family likes the Plex App and change is… difficult :grinning:

Should I buy a new Apple TV 4k?

tvOS: 18.1
