Good afternoon.
After spending a few days where I didn’t know why I was having problems playing 15Mb files in original quality on a 30Mb/30Mb bandwidth connection, I started testing and searching on the Internet, and finally found that the problem is in PLEX, and not in the bandwidth.
I found several posts related to this problem, and I would like to know if PLEX has in mind to introduce any change related to multi-threading when streaming.
Thank you.
Hi,
I use Plex quite a lot as I travel on a weekly basis, and one of the things that I unfortunately encounter quite often is how hotels/coffee shops etc typically limit the speed of each TCP connection you open. For example: the hotel I am currently sat in gives you a 3Mb internet connection, however no single TCP connection will actually hit that (each connection is limited to 1Mb).
If my understanding is correct (and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong), when we start streami…
Basic Summary
I get buffering when streaming higher qualities over the internet even though my internet connection should be able to handle it. Especially when I am far away (geographically) from my server. This feature would ensure internet streaming is maxing out your connection and allow streaming the highest quality possible. This would also help if your ISP (such as Comcast) tries to throttle your streaming by bypassing their per-connection speed limits.
If you are familiar with download …
While I have a general understanding of how multi-segmented downloading works, I do not know the full range of specifications, so if anyone would like to chime in and add to this and make corrections, please feel free to do so.
How data is typically sent.
As many of you are aware, when you download something from a server, the method in which the server transfers files to you is by breaking the file down into small chunks known as packets, which are then sent over one at a time, typically t…
