Is it possible to have app upload videos only?

I’m realizing with unlimited Amazon Prime and Google Photos, things are kinda redundant for me. But I don’t back-up videos to the cloud because that’s not unlimited. So I’d like Plex to back-up my videos to PC for me, but can I have the app just move videos, and not photos? I don’t see a setting for that. Please advise if there is a way. Thank you.

The app does not support that. It’s all or nothing.

Is there a way to direct the uploads though? Pictures go into pictures folder, videos go into videos folder? Right now, it’s all going to one folder, and then I manually separate them at the pc.

No, you can only choose library. You could run a script to delete pictures.

Thanks! I wasn’t really sure what was going, but I’ve been doing a lot of testing. Creating libraries, adding pictures and videos, deleting, creating, deleting. just to see how the server and the smartphone app reacts with each other. So I basically understand how it works now. The main thing that was confusing to me was that when I’m searching for a library to use as the Camera Upload library, I didn’t see any libraries, or I would only see one or two. I realize it will only show you the PHOTO libraries to choose from. Doesn’t matter what you name them, as long as you chose the PHOTO icon when creating the library at your server. And you’re right, you can only point the files to go to one folder, so both videos and photos go to any folder you point.

Hope they can address two things that would be super useful:

  1. DO NOT rename files. Because they are renaming the files, it causes clutter. Because ideally, I’d lik to point to an Amazon Drive folder, which is always up to date with my photos takin from my phone. So ideally if Plex doesn’t rename files, then maybe they’ll see that the photos are already in there and don’t have to upload.
  2. Allow us to choose to only upload photos, videos or both. Because they are renaming, and causing clutter, I rather not upload any photos. But I would like to upload just videos.

Bartlomiej, do you think these requests make sense?

You could also install Amazon Cloud Drive on the machine you run Plex Media Server. Sync your ACD, create new photo library, point it to ACD directory. You don’t need to upload pictures for 2nd time, one place to rename, sort, delete files, etc.
Sure thing allowing us to upload photos or videos or both make sense.
