Is OpenPHT still in development?

Looks amazing. I’ve been really happy with openpht and very excited for V2!

Just a small request: Can you fix the Problem, that OpenPHT is only showing “playing” instead of the Movie/TV-show Infos, when i push the “O” Button?
Thanks a lot

this is just awesome! cant wait to try it and feel it…

the plex clients are continuing their spiral down into the 7th circle of hell.

the PC version is a joke and the AppleTV version is so bad that I have to pull out my pi with openpht to really use my big screen TV.

since this is going to be a complete rewrite… it would be awsome if your codebase and repos would allow for this to be compiled for apple TV… I know I would kick in for a couple bucks if the app could

Do live and dvr

play full bitrate mkv containered blu ray material expecially with DTS passthrough

solid h265 support, HDR, and 4k on players that support it like the AppleTV

basically fix what is helishly wrong with plex’s current official apps!!!

keep up the great work!

@Kwiboo any chances for alfa/beta before Christmas?

Tell us how we can help to include nerdy assistance, testing, and donations to being this about sooner vs later.

Looking forward to OpenPHT v2. I haven’t been able to find anywhere whether it will support HDR on HDR-capable devices. Does anyone know?

I used OPHT on a Pi for a couple of years and recently switched to an Odroid C2, which I do not think supports HDR. However, the Rock64 does support HDR playback, so I’ll upgrade to one of those if OPHT supports HDR.

You guys make me laugh. Here it is, this guy is working on a new version of a very used application in his free time, he actually responds to a request for info, and right away it’s HDR this and Apple TV that, oh and get it all done by Christmas. :expressionless:

Seriously, this is why even professional developers don’t directly interact.

If you want to encourage development, ask for a patreon upfront, not a feature. The proper response, is simply “Thank you for your hard work.” Software development is tedious as fk. It’ll get done when it gets done. If you want to know if it will support your requested feature, the first place to look would be with what Kodi supports, since it’s being ported over from that. The 2nd place would be anything he has already posted. If you don’t see your important feature in either of those places, then you’ll have to wait and see what comes up. You pestering what appears to be the only person working on something we all really want is NOT going to get the feature you want. It’ll either be in there or it won’t.

TL;DR? Thanks Kwiboo for your hardwork, sorry for the forums lack of manners. Looking forward to V2-Beta! Happy holidays.

While I agree with a lot of what you’ve said, I simple cannot agree with this! Software development is stimulating, exciting and rewarding. I love creating things from zero’s and one’s.

Back to OpenPHT V2. THANK YOU for working on this.

Thanks for your opinion Darkness. I have to disagree. Asking questions about possible functionality is not as offensive as you make it out to be. It shows excitement about the possibilities. Why can’t people be curious? It does not show any lack of thanks or respect for the development efforts.

I do appreciate the efforts and I would like to know if 4k UHD is in the picture any times soon.

@Dark-Knyte spoken like someone that has never coded and has never had a public repo

devs love to hear what is on the minds of those he is developing for… they mostly work in isolation… they are not large software organizations with focus groups, brainstorming meetings, marketing survey departments… etc… they need input…

now… demanding, rude, or otherwise non constructive types need not apply…

@Dark-Knyte as a somewhat ironic side…

what made plex great is when it was a public effort… when it went closed development it went to ■■■■…

Sorry if I started this crap folks. I, as a developer in another life and different tech, loved getting a free beer and testers. I figured I’d ask what was necessary to help get to the finish line and more.

I love Plex server, but with all due respect the Plex Media Player is a piece of sel-censored-multiple-explicative.

OpenPHT preserves the reason why I moved to Plex in the first place, and I’m glad it’s still being developed. I wouldn’t mind donating there to preserve that effort, because the folks at Plex are obviously not interested in user customization, and granular tweaks via a simple UI like they actually had in PHT.

You have my vote for OpenPHT v2! Ever since the Plex team decided to abandon support for Windows 7 with PHT I was so glad OpenPHT was there to save the day and I’ve been using it to this day on all my computers. Keep it up! =)

+1 happy to see some development going on

Would love to see the new collections feature supported too. Support for Pseudo TV would be incredible at some stage in the distant future. +1 on the great work in keeping OpenPHT alive!

Hi Kwiboo,

Any chance we could test version 2 soon?

Thanks,
Ken

Just curious if we’ll see a minor maintenance/patch/bug-fix release of OpenPHT 1.8 at all (e.g., with a fix for the Plex vs. MacOS High Sierra remote-control problems apparently fixed with the unreleased [XBMCHelper] - fixed up and down buttons on ir remotes with macOS Hig… · xbmc/xbmc@1c85ba7 · GitHub commit, etc.) in the foreseeable future… Or if the next release will be a version of 2.0?

I mean I’m super-excited for Open PHT 2.0, but I’m also prepared to be patient for a very long time before 2.0 comes out, so I’m trying to keep my time-frame expectations low… But if 2.0 is far off, then in the meantime it would be nice, if possible, to get a little 1.8.1 update with, say, High Sierra remote compatibility and whatever other priority-bug-fix/compatibility tickets might be nearly ready-to-launch, or at least a clue that such a release might be coming

Always excited for any news. Thanks for everything!

It is open source, you are free to make the changes yourself and compile it. You do not need to wait for an official release. There are probably compile guides for this. I do not have a mac (and not interested in setting up a cross compile env) otherwise I would do it for you.

https://github.com/RasPlex/OpenPHT/blob/openpht-1.8/tools/EventClients/Clients/OSXRemote/HIDRemote/HIDRemote.m#L1019 Add it there then compile.
