I have been told that the Plex app for Xbox 360 is limited to 720p resolution because of Xbox 360 limitations, but I have my Xbox 360 connected via HDMI and the resolution set to 1080p. So is Plex downscanning my 1080p videos to 720p in order to play on an xbox 360 which is set to 1080p? This doesn’t make any sense. Is there anything that explains the limitation and if in fact it is only playing at 720p? Is there a way to force 1080p on the Plex media server for the xbox 360?
It even says 1080p in the movie pop up menu when I play 1080p movies. Does anyone know if it’s full 1080p or if it’s misrepresenting the video resolution?
I agree, based upon the specs and capabilities of the xbox 360… there is no reason why Plex can’t support full 1080 resolution and 5.1 audio…
According to the FAQ, the 360 is limited to 720p output: Xbox 360 Supported Formats
It’s 1080p played at 720p then upscaled to 1080p I think.
