Back on April 3 Achilles stated that le9 was not friendly to PMP embedded and it sounded like development is not going anywhere (see Tracking PMP functionality with Apollo Lake and Kaby Lake NUCs). Can any of the plex employees comment on this. I love the PMP embedded on my NUC and would like the new interface in the embedded version. It is so much faster than applytv and roku plex apps. Very disappointing if true. I really don’t want the hassle of running it under Windows.
I 2nd toxlap. I just started using Plex embedded on my Intel NUC after many trials and tribulations and it works great! When I installed PMP under Windows (on the same low powered box) I had all kinds of buffering and such. Please update us on future development.
As you noted on your original post, the dev comments made it sound like PMP Embedded was no longer a priority. I read the tea leaves on it, gave up and moved to other products. Real shame too, it was their best player.
The silence on this topic from the devs is deafening. I expect that they might think that this is a hobbyist’s version now as even elan commented positively on the link provided above rather than stating that PMP embedded is still active.
Looks like they posted a new release 2 days ago:

It’s still running libreelec 8.2, but it has the new interface option.
Well, well! That is a welcome change!
Now if they would give plex embedded it’s own discussion group
Well, I installed it and what a disappointment, no TV guide like all the rest of the clients.
The lack of an EPG is not limited to just embedded. I have pointed this out to the devs.
Well maybe no EPG or my personal requirement direct HDR.
But wow HDR > SDR tone-mapping is pretty impressive.
The latest PMS update has apparently broken the Live TV and DVR function on embedded PMP.
Because the latest PMS is coded for a new EPG provider and methodology.
